REMINISCENCE OF CIRCASSIA
Montagnard Natoukhadje
Jeune Prince Ouboukh & son Atalyk
Milice Circassienne à Anapa
Reminiscence of Circassia is a special collection by NOBA STUD/O.
Created in collaboration with the famous Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, founded in 1744, the collection is a limited edition.
The pieces depict famous old watercolors by Prince G.G. Gagarin from the Paris album Scenes, Paysages, Moeurs et Costumes du Caucase of 1845.
Each decorative element of the porcelain plates is not accidental and has its own symbolic meaning, rooted in the deep past and is a relay of the spiritual life of the people, its history.
The plate’s perimeter is framed by imitation Circassian false grain, richly decorated with gilding.
This type of artistic processing of noble metals was often used by the Adygs for decorating jewelry, weapons, horse harness.
Then there is a frame of a pattern characteristic of Adyghe ornamentalism, taken by the author from an ancient Circassian shashka of the XIX century.
The rim of the plates depicts the compositions of the objects used by the Adygs in their everyday lives in the past. These objects were pictured from the original collections of the Louvre Museum, the State Historical Museum, the State Hermitage Museum, etc.
The emblem depicting Adyghe military paraphernalia repeats the spine of Spencer’s memoirs about his trip to Circassia in 1830.
The porcelain collection consists of 3 series of plates with images of the Adygs (Circassians) and is issued in strictly limited edition.
